What will I study?
Students will study technological and social change, looking at diversity and the benefits it brings. They will study highlights of Spanish speaking artistic culture, including Hispanic music and cinema, and learn about political engagement and who wields political power in the Spanish-speaking world.
Students also explore the influence of the past on present-day Spanish-speaking communities.
Students will develop their ability to interact effectively with users of the language through engaging with authentic spoken and written sources in Spanish. These include online media, intellectually stimulating texts, films and other materials. They will develop transferable skills such as autonomy, resourcefulness, creativity and critical thinking. Throughout their studies, students will learn the language in the context of Spanish-speaking countries and the issues and influences which have shaped them.
Students will have the opportunity to carry out independent research on a topic of personal interest, relating to a country or countries where Spanish is spoken.
