What will I study?
This is an issues-based approach to studying Geography, enabling students to explore and evaluate contemporary geographical questions and challenges facing the world today. Over the duration of the A Level Geography course students will develop an in-depth understanding of physical and human Geography, the complexity of people and environmental questions and issues,
and become critical, reflective and independent learners.
The course consists of four compulsory elements, including three examinations: Physical paper, Human paper, Synoptic paper.
Students also complete an Independent Investigation (coursework) – students will be required to attend a minimum of four days of fieldwork, which will support geographical understanding in both human and physical geography. A 3000 – 4000 word investigation report will be produced.
Key issues include: the local and global impacts of globalisation, responses to hazards, managing water insecurity and climate change. Students will be required to read widely and undertake independent research.

Geography can take you anywhere! There are many university courses available that link to Geography; from Accountancy, Travel, Conservation, Ecology, Geology, Town Planning, Management and European Studies, Resource Management and Retail Management – the list is endless! Students can of course study a variety of Human and/or Physical Geography courses too.
