Future Pathways Hillview School Careers Teams
Future Pathway is the new name given to the Careers Education Programme here at Hillview School for Girls. You will be able to find a range of resource, and support to preparing you for your future in learning and work, whatever pathway you take towards your final destination of your careers goal.
The Gatsby Benchmarks are a key component of the Government’s careers strategy, which aims to guide schools on the implication of pragmatic actions which could improve the careers guidance that they give to their young people.
The eight benchmarks are as follows:
Here as a teaching member of staff we all have a responsibility to ensure we are fulfilling our responsibilities in terms of careers in particular you need to be aware of Benchmark 4: Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers. To support this, we have provided a range of resources you could use in lessons at any point but critically during National Apprenticeship Week (Feb 6th – 12th 2023) and National careers Week (March 6th – 11th 2023). These resources can be found on the new SharePoint tile Careers Resources.
However your responsibility to careers extends to the other Benchmarks as well as you provide learners with opportunities to examine different careers as well as different opportunities for training (University, apprenticeships, etc) within the curriculum. This also needs to be recognised in the extra-curricular activities you do as well as all trips, Guest speaker, etc
To support your further each department has a careers Champion who you can connect with who will be able to support you with ideas/suggestions. Your Careers Champion should record all encounters with employers/training on the system provided by the Future Pathways teams that way we are all working together to ensure we are meeting the Provider Access Legislation from 2022.
If you require any guidance or have any concerns, questions or suggestions please see the Future Pathways Team Ms Lines and Miss Birch careers@hillview.kent.sch.uk
