Emily left the school in the Summer after completing her A-levels and securing a place at Chichester to study Dance Science.
Gold DofE is a huge achievement and requires commitment and determination to complete the whole Award. Emily volunteered to help at her dance school with a beginner’s class and developed her own physical fitness through taking dance lessons. Emily used learning to drive as her skill and completed her expedition at the end of her Year 12 in the Ashdown Forest. Over this Summer she completed the final section which was a residential experience at Dartmoor Zoo. Emily carried out some field studies while there and on her last night slept in the Zoo.
We asked Emily what her motivation was to do the Gold Award; she replied that it seemed a shame after doing Bronze and Silver not to finish it off with Gold. She found the Gold Award challenging but a worthwhile experience and is looking forward to going to Buckingham Palace to collect her certificate.
Congrats Emily!
